Continuing the fun he has been having giving hints about the ‘Han Solo’ movie from his Twitter account, Ron Howard’s latest tease is a shot of a dark mine/ cave location, which the enticing caption of “Spicey?” below it. For all of the die-hard fans out there, your mind most-likely jumped to the spice-mines of Kessel, the famous location mentioned in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy where the illegal “spice” trade originates, which was heavily featured in the ‘Han Solo’ trilogy of books that detailed his origins in the old expanded universe. It is from here that smugglers like Han Solo pick up their merchandise to be shipped across the galaxy, and it also from here that Han once made the famous “Kessel Run” in “less than 12 parsecs,” something he bragged about in the very first ‘Star Wars’ movie to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker in the Mos Eisley Cantina. And now Ron Howard has teased the spice mines of Kessel on his Twitter account (below):

So does this mean the ‘Han Solo’ stand-alone film will feature both the Death Star AND Han making his famous Kessel run? It makes sense when you consider how Han’s piloting skills are an essential part of his character, especially in the days before he joined the rebellion. It could also easily tie into how he had to lose a load of spice and therefore end up wanted by Jabba the Hutt with a bounty on his head, all setting up his storyline for the original trilogy. Or a visit to the spice-mines of Kessel could just be a quick scene, a throwaway reference, and we are all getting excited over nothing. Such is the fun (and torment) of teasers like this.
