han solo

LEGO has become the SPOILER to end all SPOILERS, as they continue their tradition of spilling the beans when it comes to big budget extravaganzas that opt to license their wares to the famous building brick company.  In the latest case, it’s the solicitation for toys based on the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film based on the life of a young Han Solo.

And what is it that is spoiled exactly?  Why, the film’s title.  In a tweet from Twitter user @hayleyglyphs, we see a photo from a solicitation catalog which shows the logo for the film:

Yep, the uber-exciting and creative title is… ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’.  Yup.

It’s straight to the point and consistent with ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ indicating that both are ‘Star Wars’ films, just not part of the main Legacy storyline.  Obviously, not knowing anything about the film, I’m not sure what else they could have called it and still had the name recognition.

Well, one small detail has been revealed elsewhere.  In ‘Vanity Fair’, a small piece on actor Michael K. Williams reveals that his role in ‘Han Solo’ had been cut, however…

“Williams had already filmed all of his scenes as a new character to the universe—’a link between Han Solo and Emilia’s character, Kira.’”

That doesn’t tell us a lot about Emilia Clarke’s character, but up til this point, we didn’t even know her name.  In early drafts, Daisy Ridley’s character in ‘The Force Awakens’ was named Kira, but it was changed to Rey at some point for unknown reasons.

However a source close to the production may have offered a correction to MakingStarWars.net:

“I can assure it is not a misquote but it is a little different than what was printed as far as I know. … However, MakingStarWars.net can report that the spelling of the name in the Han Solo movie is not ‘Kira’ but rather ‘Kura’ according to sources around Pinewood Studios and the filming over the last year.”

But as Bleeding Cool points out, U and I are side by side on the keyboard, so either name could be a typo.  But it sounds like the consensus is “Kura.”

How do you feel about the name ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’?  Succinct and to the point or too plain?  Does the name Kura (or Kira) mean anything to you?
