While we’re all assuming that the second season of ‘Stranger Things‘ will have the same magic as the first, it appears that Netflix is even more confident as the Duffer Brothers have just confirmed a third season! Not only that, but they’ve hinted that a fourth is likely as well! This comes shortly after David Harbour stated that “In Season 2 and Season 3 they’ll grow up” and followed that with “I think there’ll be a Season 3” already hinting that we’ll be having one. Now, we’ve got a bit more confirmation.
When talking about the second season of ‘Stranger Things,’ the Duffer Brothers stated that they “wanted to push things a bit” because “No. 2 is always a little bit bigger.” Shortly after that, they announced that the third season was officially going to happen and they have a plan for a fourth after it. Assuming, ratings and Netflix approve I’m sure. According to Ross:
“We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out.”
Matt extrapolated on this and explicitly stating that this wouldn’t work with the child stars for much more than that as:
“I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”
While this is sadly true, one can’t help but wish that there would be continuing seasons of ‘Stranger Things’ past that. Who knows, perhaps they could find a way to switch the story over to an “anthology series” based in the same town after all with a focus on new terrors from The Upside Down.
What could we see happen to the stars who are members of the Hawkins A.V. Club when the show does come to an end? Assuming that they all survive the experience, Ross says that:
“They’re going to have to get the fuck out of this town! It’s ridiculous!”
As a parent myself, if this kind of supernatural terror seemed to be continuing in my kid’s lives a location change would be at the top of my list of options.
