As summer starts to flourish, ‘Game of Thrones’ fans are preparing for winter. After six heart-wrenching seasons of the acclaimed HBO fantasy drama based on the works of George R.R. Martin, we’ve nearly reached the penultimate season that is sure to leave us in a puddle of emotions one way or another before it all comes to an end. But before the series returns for the seventh season, the network has finally released a proper trailer to set the stage for the impending war on the horizon.

Following a short teaser in March and a number of promotional images, HBO has unveiled the first official trailer for season seven of ‘Game of Thrones’. With the proclamation that the great war is here, we see the likes of Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, and more prepare for battle. Admittedly, it’s hard to imagine how even the mightiest warriors can compete with dragons, but it will be an interesting match up to see nonetheless. And amidst all the fighting over the Iron Throne, we’re reminded that there’s a much larger threat looming that could mean the end of the Seven Kingdoms as we know them. You can check out the trailer below courtesy of the show’s Facebook page:
