While Hugh Jackman has gone snikt snikt as Wolverine for the last time in the X-Men franchise, the ‘Deadpool 2‘ writers have a cameo that they’d love to bring him back for which might just work. Eve if we ignore the fact that ‘Deadpool 2’ will still exist in a time that Wolverine alive, the image above is directly from the first film. The face that Wade Wilson puts over his own is of Jackman on the People’s Sexiest Man Alive cover and not of Wolverine.

Do you see where they’re going with this? Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were asked about the scene, and it was suggested to them that Jackman does a cameo as himself. According to Reese:

“Oh my gosh, that’s one we haven’t heard. That’s not a bad idea.

I like that. Deadpool lives in a world where Hugh Jackman is out there. He’s got the People’s Sexiest Man Alive cover that he staples to his forehead in the first movie, so maybe he could meet Hugh as Hugh. That would be really funny.”

This cameo technically wouldn’t be Jackman returning as Logan and seems like an absurd enough idea to be the perfect cameo. They could make a few fourth wall breaking meta jokes, a few Jackman vs. Reynolds jokes, and a few Wolverine jokes all done in a way that would make sense and have fans howling with laughter.

While I’m not going to get my hopes up on this happening it is the type of cameo that not only could work but would be a way to bring a few other actors back as well. Maybe have Deadpool stumble across Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen playing Chess or doing Shakespeare in the Park? The possibilities are endless!

Are you looking forward to ‘Deadpool 2’? Do you think this would be an excellent way to have a Hugh Jackman cameo? What other ex-X-Men actors would you like to see show up this way? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
