Sir Patrick Stewart has found another reason as to why he would return to playing Professor X in the X-Men universe. If you’ve been out of the loop, the famed actor has recently stated after a screening of ‘Logan‘ that he was done with the character for good. Not even a week later he changed his mind and said that he would come back if he could share the screen with ‘Deadpool.’ Well, he’s at it again and now says that he would come out of mutant retirement to appear on Fox’s ‘Legion.’
While unlikely from what the showrunners have said about not having an X-Men crossover at any point soon, it would appear that Stewart would be willing to play a father as Charles Xavier on FX’s surprisingly entertaining hit.
This surprise chance of heart was revealed on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ while sitting with Dan Stevens who plays David Haller on the series. For those unfamiliar with the character, Haller is better known as Legion or Professor X’s son.
Stevens explained some of the complex relationships between the characters and not only did Stewart get excited about the prospect but when Steven says he has a job offer, Corden followed up asking if Stewart was “in.”
“One hundred percent” was the only reply we needed to hear and those were the words that came out of his mouth.
While there is no contract and nothing is official, this would be something that could get fans even more excited about ‘Legion’ and possibly be a recurring role for Stewart if he were interested in it.

Now, a late night talk show isn’t necessarily the best source of casting news as the stars could just be having fun on stage, but fans of Professor X can only hope that both this and ‘Deadpool’ come to pass.
