arrivalThis Friday, January 27th, 2017, Paramount is re-releasing ‘Arrival‘ on the big screen with an added 8 minutes of bonus material! Now, this isn’t an extended cut of the film but could be thought of as more of a preview of the special features from the eventual Blu-Ray. Think commentary and behind-the-scenes material that includes the Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and even more of the cast and crew from the film.

This film dropped in November earning $170 globally at the box office but also 8 Oscar nominations with how well it resonated with both audiences and critics. With this much attention in nominations, including one for Best Picture, it seems like the perfect time to try to get a few more eyes on the film for those who haven’t had a chance to see it yet or another showing to catch any hints on the twist for those who have.

With all of the 8 nominations that it did receive, it seems hard to imagine for anyone who has seen ‘Arrival’ that Adams didn’t receive one for best actress. She certainly deserved it for her performance. While I like the idea of the bonus material being included which I’m guessing will be shown after the film unless it is spoiler free, I’m not sure if that will be the big selling point for anyone who is looking for another chance to see the film.

Synopsis:

ARRIVAL is a provocative science fiction thriller from acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve (SICARIO, PRISONERS). When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team — lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) — are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers — and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

‘Arrival’ will arrive once more on the big screen on January 27th, 2017.
