XMEN200

It is a pretty crazy time to be a Marvel fan right now. Not only is Spider-Man a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now, but Marvel Television is about to premiere their first X-Men show ‘Legion’ on FX in about a month. These are moves that True Believers never thought would happen due to screen rights and such. Although, things are about to get even bigger because 20th Century Fox TV and Marvel are close to making the impossible happen yet again.

According to a report from Deadline, Fox is nearing a pilot order for an action-adventure X-Men series written by ‘Burn Notice’ creator Matt Nix. Word of this currently untitled show first surfaced last year when development on a Hellfire Club series stalled and was ultimately cancelled. Nix worked with Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, plus Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory to put together this project that focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers and join an underground network of mutants that fight to survive. And following an enthusiastic reception, Fox chairman Gary Newman stated at a TCA press tour event earlier this week that he “expects the final draft to come in shortly and a pilot pickup within the next week or two” in order to be ready for the 2017-2018 television season.

Should this series get picked up, it will join another marquee superhero drama in development at Fox. The network is also currently working on ‘Black Lightning’ from DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television. However, having both a Marvel and a DC show on Fox really isn’t a problem for them as they might just pull in all corners of the superhero fandom.

What do you think about the new X-Men series from Matt Nix heading to Fox? What characters do you think could be involved in the show? And do you think that the show will connect to the X-Men movies? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
