alien: covenant

Ridley Scott isn’t just returning to horror in ‘Alien: Covenant‘ but he’s giving us a full on VR experience as well! The ‘Alien: Covenant VR Experience’ will work with the film to give it extra material for fans and is being made by a collaboration of RSA Films, the Fox Innovation Lab, MPC VR, and Ridley Scott himself. Scott will be producing the experience with David Karlak directing. It is planned to be a paid title which will be available on all of the current major VR platforms which will take players on “a dread-inducing journey into the depths of the Alien universe.”

20th Century Fox has had experience with this technology as last year they also did a VR Experience for Scott’s ‘The Martian’ and I’m wondering if that means the famed director is the one pushing for an increase in the use of virtual reality.

We’re not sure at this time if we’ll be seeing any of the characters for the film or how it will tie into the franchise but it sounds as if it will be a fun piece of survival horror as “Viewers will discover the true meaning of terror as they navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death.”

At this time there is no release date for the ‘Alien: Covenant’ VR Experience though with the film coming to the big screen in May of 2017, I would expect the VR experience to be available at the same time or shortly after if they are having it be a companion piece to the film.
