spiderman: homecoming

Get excited true believers, we finally have our first real look at ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ and it looks, AMAZING (pun Intended)!

Sony/ Disney released the first full trailer during ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ tonight, a full week ahead of when it was rumored to be released ahead of ‘Rogue One’ in theaters, and it did not disappoint. The trailer is full of the humor we had hoped the MCU would be able to bring out in the character, and bringing him back to his high school roots looks like a decision that is going to pay off wonderfully, as the movie looks like it is going to be full of conflicts for our hero that we have yet to see in the movies, such as dealing with older heroes telling him to stay out of it and be a regular kid while the world is being threatened by major villains like Michael Keaton’s The Vulture, who we finally get to see in action in the trailer.

As teased earlier, we also got to see those web wings in action as Spidey escapes what looks to be the police chasing him (potentially meaning they are staying true to the comics where he is actually seen as a menace, instead of beloved by the city as we saw far too often in the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield movies), and his attitude and jokes just seem to flow a lot better now that he is in his proper place in the MCU, and it does not hurt that Tom Holland plays the character so well. Throw in how much Robert Downey Jr. seems to be involved in the plot as both mentor and protector of Peter, and it truly looks like this will be a film that truly fits in the MCU, and not just a stand-alone that happens to take place in the world Marvel and Disney have worked so hard to build over the years.

I also enjoyed that even with all the information we got from the trailer, the studios have decided to keep a lot under wraps, such as who exactly Zendaya is playing in the movie (she only briefly appears in the trailer), and what exactly the plot is going to be about, aside from Vulture threatening the city and potentially a ship out at sea. And while we did get our first glimpses of the Vulture in action, they also did not give away too much of the villain, which is great as it will allow the footage with him to be fresh when we finally get to see it up on the big screen when the film premieres.

But don’t take my word for how great the trailer is, check it out for yourself and share your opinion on the ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ trailer in the comments below!
