RUMOR ALERT: This information is strictly a RUMOR right now, so take this with a grain of salt.

Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ is currently in post-production and the latest buzz is that the film will include a Green Lantern in a “key sequence.”  That’s just a rumor and the verbiage leaves things open to interpretation.  Leading up to the release of ‘Batman V Superman’, it was believed that Aquaman would play a much larger role, but he only had a brief cameo in the film, the same as those of The Flash and Cyborg.  Unlike those two, for whatever reason, Aquaman was included in much more of the movie’s marketing materials including toys.  Could that tiny cameo be considered a “key sequence?”  It depends on your definition of the term.

The Green Lantern news/rumor doesn’t come as a surprise, as Green Lantern is the one hero that is most closely associated with the Justice League that has yet to be included as part of Warner Brothers’ current string of DC movies.  (No, the Ryan Reynolds flop does NOT count.)

And WB does have ‘Green Lantern Corps’ due in 2020, so it would make sense to familiarize audiences with the characters and concept.

It was previously rumored that Hal Jordan would cameo in ‘Batman V Superman’, but that turned out to be false.

Of course, there are hundreds of Green Lanterns.  The one most associated with the Justice League is Hal Jordan (the one Reynolds played), although John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner and Simon Baz have also had stints on the team.  Reportedly, Jordan and Stewart will be the focus of ‘Green Lantern Corps’ but because that movie still so far off, that could still change or turn out to not be true.  Then again, it could refer to Abin Sur, the alien Lantern who gave Jordan his ring and Power Battery.  Perhaps the “key sequence” is Abin Sur’s arrival on Earth to find his replacement, perhaps after encountering an alien threat, like say… Darkseid?

What do you think?  Do you want to see Green Lantern in ‘Justice League’?  If so, in how big a role?

Directed by Zack Snyder, ‘Justice League’ is set to be the flagship entry in DC’s burgeoning cinematic universe. The film features returning stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot alongside a wave of newcomers, including Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher and J.K. Simmons. ‘Justice League’ will land in theaters on November 17, 2017.
