the walking dead

Fans of AMC’s hit zombie-apocalypse show ‘The Walking Dead’ are eagerly anticipating the show’s return to the airwaves after a doozy of a cliffhanger left audiences in suspense all summer long.  As you may recall, nefarious villain Negan had a good chunk of the Alexandria group bound and on their knees, as he stood over them menacingly with “Lucille,” his barbed-wire bat.  The final shot of the season 6 finale was a first-person-view of Negan killing someone with his bat as the screen fades to black…

The trailers we’ve received so far for the upcoming season obviously can’t and won’t give anything away in terms of who might have gone to the great Terminus in the sky – or even what’s happening with other members of the group, as that would show the fate of one or more characters who didn’t die – but it can give us some insight on the other characters that weren’t captured by Negan, as well as some of the other situations that our survivors will encounter in the coming season.  Pulling heavily from the storylines of the original comic book series, Season 7 will see the introduction of The Kingdom, a new community of survivors.  In the comics, The Kingdom is based near Washington, D.C., and is a walled community built on the grounds of a former high school.  Whether this all translates to the show remains to be seen, but two big pieces that do seem to get the direct-transfer treatment are the leader of the community, King Ezekiel, and his pet tiger, Shiva.

There are a few other intriguing parts you may catch in the video – have a look-see:

First and foremost is the odd-yet-entertaining quick shot of the two hogs eating what appears to be a human body.  Are these Negan’s pigs, perhaps, and this body they are feeding on is whomever Negan has killed?  Are these animals at The Kingdom, and being fed someone alive or dead?  Or – most disturbingly – are the animals in the wild, and feeding on undead remains, which in turn may make them virus-fueled zombie pigs?  The second interesting shot comes at the very end of the video, and it appears to show Jesus fighting walkers with fire – and a sizable breach in a wall behind him, which is never a good thing for long-term anti-zombie security.

The season premiere of ‘The Walking Dead’ will debut on AMC on Sunday, October 23rd.
