Most of the cast of the original ‘Ghostbusters’ popped up in cameos in the recent remake, but don’t expect to see the original ‘Power Rangers’— Jason David Frank, Austin St. John, Amy Jo Johnson, Walter Emanuel Jones and David Yost– in the big screen remake of that famous kids show.

Jones, who played Zack Taylor the original Black Ranger, shot down any hopes of seeing the O.G. Rangers in the film, saying:

“It’s not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless.”

Ludi-LinUnfortunately, Jones had already quit the original series before the first ‘Power Rangers’ movie made it to theaters.  (Johnny Yong  Bosch had taken over as Adam the second Black Ranger.)

In the new film, Ludi Lin steps in as the new Black Ranger, who will apparently share the name “Zack Taylor.”

He commented on how his depiction of Zack will differ from Jones’, saying “Well, I did a lot of my own stunts. The director [Dean Israelite] was wonderful. We just worked as a team to work out what I can do and what I can give to the character. I wanted to develop something very different for the character because the character is the first Chinese superhero. I didn’t want him to be a typical Kung-Fu, Wushu fighting pretty kicks. I wanted something powerful because it’s a sexy character as well.”

Does that mean no Hip Hop Kido?

Are you sad that the original Rangers won’t be in the new movie?

Directed by Dean Israelite, ‘Saban’s Power Rangers’ stars Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, R.J. Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Lisa Berry, Caroline Cave, David Denman, Anjali Jay, Sarah Grey, Emily Maddison, Kayden Magnuson, and Patrick Sabongui and hits theaters on April 24, 2017.
