Blair Witch Dark Truth 301

Seventeen years after ‘The Blair Witch Project’ became one of the most influential horror movies of all time, the world gets to return to the Black Hills Forrest in Burkittsville, Maryland with ‘Blair Witch’ from the ‘You’re Next’ and ‘The Guest’ writer and director team of Simon Barrett and Adam Wingard. And now that we’re a little under two weeks away from the film hitting theaters, it looks as though Lionsgate has started an interesting viral marketing campaign ahead of the release.

When the first film debuted back in 1999, it brought a whole new meaning to the word creepy. Now, the movie studio releasing the sequel is looking to recapture some of that with some unique viral marketing. Though YouTube user Dark Truth 301, an account dedicated to “investigating unsavory goings-on in Western Maryland”, the studio has released some footage of someone running through a dilapidated building. It’s all very much in the same vein as the original movie, but when you read the description of the video, the clip actually came from an old dv tape found in the Black Hills Forrest. However, it was taken down mysteriously. You can check out the video and it’s description below:

WATCH & SHARE THIS BEFORE SOMEONE TAKES IT DOWN AGAIN!

Now that people are starting to wake up and join the search for truth, we felt it time to share one of our darkest secrets. Our friends and fellow hactivists, known as darknet666 (https://darknet666blog.wordpress.com), originally posted this in April 2014 when they found an old dv tape in the Black Hills Forest (Frederick Watershed), Maryland. Within a month, they’d gone missing in those same woods and the video was mysteriously DELETED as part of a COVER-UP. We recently “acquired” the file from our friend’s computer. THIS IS WHAT THE AUTHORITIES DON’T WANT YOU TO SEE.

After doing more digging into the user’s Twitter account, there’s a lot of talk about a film about missing persons called ‘The Absence of Closure’ by director Lisa Arlington. It even has an IMDB page and a Tumblr set up for it. Interestingly enough, Arlington (who is played by Callie Hernandez in the new film) is among those helping James Donahue (James Allen McCune) search for his sister Heather, one of the young filmmakers who disappeared in 1994 while looking into the local legend of the Blair Witch. The marketing team at Lionsgate has certainly been busy with this campaign and it will definitely be interesting to see how it unfolds in the days leading up to the premiere of ‘Blair Witch’. Until then, let us know what you think about the viral marketing so far in the comments below. Also, check out the official synopsis of the film to learn more about what’s going on:

A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister, who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.

‘Blair Witch’ starring James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson will be found on September 16, 2016.
