Fans of Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse were saddened when they were written off the show but we all knew that the plan was to move them to ‘Marvel’s Most Wanted‘ before the spinoff was cancelled and now fans are demanding to see what could have been. There is a petition for the pilot to be shown and even if fans get their way in seeing this single episode, it is unlikely that ABC would ever continue the series.
The two actors had great on screen chemistry and with a shared past had a lot to continue to build off of and such a shame to not see them used further together. Furthering that line of thought, the petition states that:
It was thus with great disappointment that fans around the world heard the announcement that after reviewing the pilot, ABC had yet again passed on the series and that all the hard work put into the new spin-off had gone to waste. So it turned out that two of the most beloved characters from “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” had been written out of the show… for nothing.
The interesting opportunity here is to further expand these two characters and possibly use their own solo adventures as a way to jumpstart their return to ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ because honestly not doing so would be a bit of a letdown and a waste of the time invested here. Also, it would give insight into what the two were up to when they were out on their own.
The premise of the show is that since they were disavowed from S.H.I.E.L.D. that they would end up on the run and a mysterious man with deep connections in spycraft and the underworld would take them under his wing. He needs their help for black ops as much as they need his to stay off the radar. This seems like a no-brainer for a 3-4 episode run that could bring our two spies back to the table. Sadly, I’m sure the upcoming season is to set in stone for this to happen until at least the following season.
It sure does seem like a plot point that could be run on its own and weaved into ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ with a few episodes to drag the lovers back into the fold.
