Tiffany Espensen, the star of Disney XD’s ‘Kirby Buckets’ has landed a role in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ but until now, it wasn’t revealed who she would be playing.  But this call sheet reveals that her character’s name is Cindy:

One enterprising Reddit user also figured out that Espensen followed Robbie Thompson and Humberto Ramos, comic book creators who worked on the comic book ‘Silk’, which stars a protagonist named Cindy Moon.

Silk is a fairly recent addition to the Spiderverse, first appearing in 2014.  In the comics, Cindy Moon was revealed to have been bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers, but unlike him, Cindy could not control her powers.

TIFFANY ESPENSENSince we already know that ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ will thankfully NOT be another origin story, it will be interesting to see how Silk’s story unfolds or if she will even have her powers yet.  It has long been rumored that Sony has wanted to explore the Spiderverse, including a movie with a female lead.  Could ‘Silk’ be the chosen one?

As for Espensen, she has largely acted in the “tween” genre appearing on Nickelodeon’s ‘Bucket and Skinners Epic Adventures’, and on Disney’s ‘Hannah Montana’, ‘Zeke and Luther’, ‘Good Luck Charlie’ and current series ‘Kirby Buckets’.  She also appeared in the film ‘Earth To Echo’ and has voiced characters on ‘Phineas and Ferb’, ‘The Boondocks’, ‘Special Agent Oso’, and ‘Hop’.

Of course, Espensen joins fellow Disney star Zendaya in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, who is reported to be playing Mary-Jane Watson.  Coincidentally (or is it?), this is the first ‘Spider-Man’ movie that is being co-produced by Sony and Marvel Studios, which is owned by Disney.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ directed by Jon Watts, starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Hannibal Buress, Bokeem Woodbine, Martin Starr, Logan Marshall-Smith, Angourie Rice, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Garcelle Beauvais, Kenneth Choi, Abraham Attah, Michael Barbieri and Tyne Daly swings into theaters July 7, 2017.
