All exclusives have assumedly been announced by now, although we’ve still got a few awesome surprises in this weeks news! On top of the other regular reveals we have come to expect, there’s a little something for everyone in the Toy News for the week of July 19th, 2016!
One Rogue ‘Rogue One’ Figure Premieres
This past weekend at Star Wars Celebration Europe Hasbro revealed the first ever ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ action figure! This figure is of the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spinoff’s lead heroin, Jyn Erson (played by actress Felicity Jones in the film), and is coming to us from the 6″ scale ‘Star Wars: Black Series’ toyline! While details are scarce as to when we can expect this figure to be released, it’s probably safe to say we can expect to see a few more members of the film’s cast joining the ‘Black Series’ toyline. Jyn Erson includes a removable scarf accessory as well as a blaster pistol that fits in a side holster.
Hot Toys Still Awakening The Force
It’s been months since audiences were first wowed by ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and we are still seeing some fantastic new products based on the film being announced! The team at Hot Toys has just announced their new ‘Resistance Outfit’ Rey 1:6th scale figure that should be releasing later this year! While Hot Toys already gave us a great looking Rey figure, this time around she is sporting her new Resistance clothing from the end of the film! Check out the full release from Hot Toys below-
In Star Wars: The Force Awaken, fans were introduced to our new heroine Rey and her incredible journey to assist the Resistance to stop the First Order’s menacing plan and find the legendary Luke Skywalker.
With the Star Wars Celebration 2016 just around the corner, Hot Toys is delighted to celebrate this special occasion and is excited to introduce a new exclusive 1/6th scale collectible figure of the beloved Rey in her new Resistance outfit as seen in the epic moment of the film where we meet Luke Skywalker once again.
The highly-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Daisy Ridley as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens featuring the highly detailed head sculpt, meticulously tailored outfit as seen in the final scenes of the film, Rey’s signature staff, a blaster pistol, Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber hilt, and a hexagonal figure stand with the Resistance’s emblem.
Star Wars fans, don’t miss the chance add this amazing heroine to your collection today!
To add a little more icing to the cake, Hot Toys also posted what appears to be a teaser image for a ‘Force Awakens’ 1:6th scale Luke Skywalker figure as well! The image was posted to their social media accounts earlier this week featuring Rey in her Resistance Outfit and the hand of a robed figure that appears to be Luke from the end of the film along with a cryptic message for fans to be sure to check out their booth at SDCC next week! Check out the full post from Hot Toys below-
Hot Toys is excited to be coming to San Diego Comic-Con again this year and will be showcasing a number of firstly unveiled prototypes at the convention for our fans!
Words simply can’t describe the “epicness” of this final scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Star Wars fans shouldn’t miss the chance to visit us at booth #1929 in San Diego Comic-Con starting next week and meet Rey together with a legendary Jedi.
Keep a look out for more exciting news on what to expect from us at SDCC soon!
Who You Gonna Call?
Our friends at Diamond Select Toys have revealed their full Minimate lineup based on this summer’s ‘Ghostbusters’ franchise reboot! Love it or hate it, the reboot is here to stay, and wow do these Minimates look great! We are getting two different assortments based on the hit film, with one wave hitting specialty stores and the other being a Toys R Us Exclusive! Both sets will let you collect the entire team of Ghostbusters like Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzman, Abby Yates, and Patty Tolan, but the others are going to be a bit more specific! If you want Rowan’s Ghost, Slimer, or the rare one-per-case variant Mrs. Slimer (who comes packed with a ‘Slimed’ Patty Tolan), you’re going to have to hit up your local specialty store or comic shop! If you’re less worried about them but want to pick up Phase-4 Rowan’s Ghost or Mr. Staypuft, then you’ll want to be hitting Toys R Us as soon as you can!
DC Collectives Delves Deeper Into DC TV
The fans demanded, and now DC Collectibles will provide! Our good at DC Collectibles are bringing fans of the DC Television Universe a number of their favorite characters from several of their hit series, including one that I don’t think any of us ever expected to see! Straight from his own cancelled television series and a brief guest stint on ‘Arrow’ comes the Hellblazer himself, John Constantine! He’s also being joined by Vixen to expand the ‘Arrow’ toyline even further. Another ‘Arrow’ alumni, ‘The Atom’, is coming our way as well- but as a part of the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ line alongside Firestorm and Hawkgirl! Adding a bit more villainy to ‘The Flash’ line is Season 2’s big bad, Zoom! And wrapping up we’ve got our titular heroin from ‘Supergirl’, plus Martian Manhunter to fill in that line! It’s a really great time to be both a collector and a fan of DC Television! These are all set to hit stores February and May of 2017.
The Greatest Vs The Greatest
Holy crap, are there even words for how cool this is? The team at NECA has announced plans via The Nerdist for an all new figure box set of Superman and Muhammad Ali based on their iconic appearance in the 1978 DC Comics oversized special ‘Superman vs. Muhammad Ali’! This figure two-pack includes comic styled Superman and Muhammad Ali in 7″ scale as they appeared in the Neal Adams artwork on the cover of the now iconic special! This item is set to premiere on site at SDCC 2016 later this week, with no release date or price point currently set.
Hunter Or Hunted?
The team at NECA is continuing to wow collectors with their in depth ‘Predator’ toyline that has gone down almost every conceivable road to bring fans the figures they want! This week they are teasing two all new pieces, a ‘Glow In The Dark’ Stalker Predator, and a really cool new ‘Predator’ Accessory pack!
The Stalker Predator is based on the figure of the same name from the classic 1990’s Kenner ‘Predator’ toyline! It even has the same awesome ‘Glow In The Dark’ abilities that the original had, as you can see in the picture below from NECA’s Twitter Account!
If you have already got enough Predator figures (which realistically doesn’t actually seem possible), then maybe you just need some awesome new accessories for the ones you’ve got? NECA has announced plans for a new ‘Predator’ accessory pack that will be released later this year and include a Skinned Body, Blue and Yellow Cannon Effects (that should fit onto most pre-existing Predator shoulder-cannons), and several skulls (some alien, some human, and some with spines still attached!). This set is due out in October.
Mattel’s SDCC Exclusives No Longer At SDCC?! Online Only?!
In a move that is both surprising and incredibly confusing, Mattel has removed about half of their previously announced San Diego Comic Con Exclusives from their convention sales list and instead moved them to an online only sale event at MattyCollector.com! Why? Who knows. But from now until the end of SDCC later this week you will be able to purchase the following items on MattyCollector.com–
- Barbie® Amazon Princess Wonder Woman™ Doll ($80)
- He-Man and the Masters of the Universe® She-Ra® ($75)
- Ever After High® Cedar Wood® SDCC 2016 Exclusive Marionette Doll ($30)
- Monster High® Ghostbusters Frankie Stein® Doll ($25)
- DC Comics™ Multiverse Wonder Woman™ Figure + Invisible Jet ($15)
- Hot Wheels® Star Trek™: ’64 Buick Riviera & Spock 1:64 Figure ($20)
- Thomas & Friends™/DC Super Friends™ MINIS ($19.99)
- ThunderCats™ WilyKit & WilyKat™ 2-Pack ($60)
These items will no longer be available for sale on the convention floor, which seems like a strange move, but at least it gives people who can’t make it to the convention a chance to grab them online. The sale will run from Monday 7/18 through Sunday 7/24, so you’d better snag these while you can!
McFarlane’s 5″ ‘Dead’ Still Walking And More!
The crew over at McFarlane just revealed a ton of new figures through their website from their ‘The Walking Dead’ line, plus a few figures from their newly acquired ‘Five Nights At Freddies’ license!
From ‘The Walking Dead’, we are getting two new 5″ figures with Constable Rick Grimes and Aaron! These two are set to be Walgreens Exclusive, which still isn’t too bad considering that most had pretty much settled on the idea of the line having come to an end. If retailer exclusives are what it takes to keep this line alive, I’m sure collectors are all on board! These are set to release this Winter for $14.99 each.
Beyond those two, we are also getting some other cool new ‘Walking Dead’ stuff like a Daryl Dixon Resin Statue, and a full scale 32″ replica of Negan’s legendary bat ‘Lucille’! The Daryl Statue will stand around 10″ tall and run a whopping $295 when it releases this winter, while Lucille should only run you around $30.
For fans of ‘Five Nights At Freddies’, McFarlane has some awesome looking new building sets coming our way! This winter we can start keeping an eye out for ‘Five Nights At Freddies’ Arcade Cabinet ($7.99, 30 pieces), The Bed ($12.99, 100 pieces), and The Closet ($12.99, 100 pieces) in stores! These building sets all include articulated figures and have brick pieces compatible with other construction brands!
Frak Yeah! It’s About Time!
While this line was announced several years ago and promptly filed under ‘announced but never released and long since forgotten’ by most, Titan Merchandise is finally releasing their ‘Battlestar Galactica’ blindbox vinyls collection! Dubbed the ‘So Say We All’ collection, this line is based on the hit 2004 ‘Battlestar Galactica’ reboot and includes most of your favorite characters like Adama, Starbuck, Lee, Chief, Helo, Boomer, Gaius Baltar, Cylons and more! These are due out in October!
The Funko Forecast
Get ready for the Funko Forecast! This is where we’re going to be showcasing all of the cool new announcements and reveals from Funko! With all of the awesome that consistently seems to be flowing out of those guys, it shouldn’t be hard to keep this section alive each and every week!
The Final Funko SDCC Exclusives
Funko has revealed it’s final round of San Diego Comic Con 2016 Exclusives for, and there are still some huge surprises to be seen! This final round of exclusives will be available at Toy Tokyo’s SDCC booth (#5341) during the convention and include-
- ‘Space Ghost’ Brak and Zorak POP! Vinyls
- ’66 Batman ‘Gold Batmobile’ Dorbz Ridez
- ‘Flash Gordon’ Flash Gordon & Ming The Merciless Dorbz 2-Pack

Exclusive… Why’d It Have To Be Exclusive?
The team at PopVinyls is reporting that Disney Parks and Resorts are going to be boasting a rather amazing new exclusive POP! Vinyl starting this Friday July 22nd in the form of Indiana Jones! This is the second Indiana Jones POP! announced so far (the other being an SDCC Exclusive), which is fitting because it’s based on his appearance in his second film ‘The Temple Of Doom’! This figure should be available at the following locations for a retail price of $19.99 beginning Friday 7/22/16-
Disneyland Resort
- Disneyland – Adventureland Bazaar
- Downtown Disney District – D-Street
Walt Disney World Resort
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost
- Disney Springs Marketplace – Disney’s Pin Traders
It is also being reported that this exclusive POP! Vinyl should also be available to Disney guests who use the ‘Shop Disney Parks’ smartphone app, so hopefully that makes it a little bit easier to track down!
The Rebels Are Coming!
This weekend at Star Wars Celebration Europe, it was revealed that Funko would be launching a line of POP! Vinyls based on the hit ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ animated series! Details are scarce so far, but fans can at the very least expect to see their fan favorite ‘Clone Wars’ alumni Ahsoka Tano as a Hot Topic Exclusive later this year as the line releases!
