Suicide-Squad-Team-Poster

Not sure how this happened.  When I was in high school, jocks used to make fun of me for reading comics, now suddenly everybody’s a nerd?  Whatevs.

But anyway, as I’m sure you know, Warner Brothers has a highly anticipated film called ‘Suicide Squad’ coming out in just a few weeks.  It will be the third installment of the studio’s DC Comics film franchise.  After ‘Batman V Superman’ faltered, all eyes are on this off-beat flick in hopes that audiences will take more kindly to it.

As with most action movies, the target audience for ‘Suicide Squad’ is primarily young males, so in keeping with that, WB served up two new clips on the ESPN ESPYS (the network’s sports awards show).

The first is an extended cut of the trailer.  Most of this has already been seen, but there are a few new clips mixed in.

Check it out below:

In playing to this particular audience, ‘Suicide Squad’ standout Margot Robbie starred in this humorous clip alongside New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.  (Believe it or not, I didn’t have to look that up.  I will, however, spare you the image of the Gronk shrine on my bedroom wall.) This clip, entitled ‘Gronk Meets Harley’ features Robbie, out of character, lamenting the film being typecast, with footage from the movie mixed in. Check it out below:

Expect lots more ‘Suicide Squad’ news as Warner Brothers is going all in for SDCC next weekend.  Check back for more updates!

‘Suicide Squad’ directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Scott Eastwood, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Jay Hernandez, Common, Ike Barinholtz and Karen Fukahara with Ben Affleck hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
