After how awesome ‘The Lego Movie’ it seemed unlikely that we could get even more excited about ‘The Lego Batman Movie‘ but producer Phil Lord and Chris Miller have found a way to do just that. The directing dynamic duo are busy with the Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ film so won’t be helming this one but are on board as producers who will clearly have a lot of creative say with how much of a runaway hit they had on their hands with the first one. Not only are they weighing in on this one but also will be helping produce ‘The Lego Ninjago Movie’ and ‘The Lego Movie Sequel’!
Recently the two sat down for an interview and of course the new take on the Caped Crusader came up with some interesting details. First up was for the content that would be touched on they asked if there were any eras of Batman which were off limits?
LORD: There is no favoritism, and there are no limits.
MILLER: Chris McKay, the director of the movie, is a real Batman aficionado and knows really arcane stuff that was only in one issue of the comic book in 1972, and that sort of thing.
LORD: And he has a very large Catwoman tattoo on his forearm.
From comics to movies to cartoons to video games it looks like everything is on the table! Even recent events are covered with potential spoilers of future plot lines as:
MILLER: So, it is chock full of stuff for Batman aficionados. It is just a 90-minute Easter egg.
LORD: And it heavily honors the comics. So, it covers all the way through to Batman v Superman
MILLER: All the way through and to the future.
We have no idea if they mean future comic story lines which were shared with the creators of the upcoming movie or if the future reference just means that we’ll be seeing an appearance of this guy:
