x-men: apocalypse slice1-600x200

While this weekend belongs to ‘Batman V Superman’ that’s just the second major superhero movie of the year.  Come May, all eyes will be on Bryan Singer’s farewell to the ‘X-Men’ franchise, ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ which introduces one of the team’s most deadly villains.

As we know, in the movie, Apocalypse enlists four “Horsemen” to assist in his conquest:

As you can see from the new ‘Empire’ magazine cover, in this film, his Horsemen include Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn).

As we learned earlier, when the movie kicks off, Angel is duking it out in an underground German mutant fight club, and one of his opponents is Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who eventually winds up as a member of the X-Men opposite Angel, who sides with Apocalypse and at some point is reborn as Archangel.

Below you can see a fluffy-haired Angel, pre-metamorphosis:

And below, is a picture of his opponent, Nightcrawler:

Now here are some additional photos from the movie, provided by ‘Empire’, which appear to depict a transformation in Apocalypse himself, from ordinary human to the blue-skinned, armored conqueror comic fans know:
