Syfy is about to get Larger Than Afterlife!  Despite the network attempting to rebrand itself with higher quality, straight science fiction offerings, like ‘Childhood’s End’ and ‘The Magicians’, the network has gained its most mainstream exposure in recent years for dreadful, campy movies like ‘Sharknado’, starring Z-grade former celebrities and their latest may be the jackpot to end them all: ‘Dead 7’ starring members of millennium-era boybands the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and O-Town, just to name a few.

The film was co-written by and stars Nick Carter, formerly the floppy-haired blond Backstreet Boy, while his wife Lauren Kitt Carter plays his love interest.  For this Wild West zombie thriller, Carter assembled a legion of fellow former heartthrobs to play grizzled cowboys forced to defend their dusty small frontier town from the undead.

The cast includes Carter’s fellow Backstreet Boys A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough, plus *NSYNC members Joey Fatone (starring as Randy Quaid, apparently) and Chris Kirkpatrick, 98°’s Jeff Timmons and O-Town’s Erik-Michael Estrada, Trevor Penick and Dan Miller.  (They were apparently unable to track down any members of 5ive.)

In addition, Carter employed Everclear lead singer Art Alexakis, Crazy Town’s Shifty Shellshock (real name Seth Binzer), 90s balladeer Jon Secada, one-hit wonder Gerardo (last name Mejía), ex-American Idol contestant Frenchie Davis, ‘Mad TV’ alum Debra Wilson plus Carrie Keagan and Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi.

Are you excited to see these former heartthrobs slay zombies?  Or do you think Syfy needs to back away from these cheesy guilty pleasures?  More importantly, am I sex-u-al?

‘Dead 7’, directed by Danny Roew (‘Big Brother’), airs on Syfy appropriately on April 1st.
