We can put the rumor about ‘Iron Fist‘ being cancelled or turned into a shorter film to rest as Netflix has announced a synopsis and showrunner for the series! Initially set to join Daredevil, ‘Luke Cage‘, and ‘Jessica Jones‘ as ‘The Defenders’ I’m happy to share that this plan has not changed. Last month Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada said that Iron Fist “is being worked on” while a movie rumor was floating around it seems that it was thankfully just a rumor.

So who signed on to be the showrunner of this mystical martial arts film? Scott Buck (‘Six Feet Under’,’Tremors 4: The Legend Begins’) who was the producer on ‘Dexter‘ is going to be tackling Daniel Rand and his return to New York. It will be the last solo series before the four heroes team up against a greater enemy and not only that but we’ve been given a brief synopsis for the series as to what to expect.

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Sadly this doesn’t give us any details on who he’ll be up against quite yet though with his martial arts history, I would expect either some ninjas or potentially some mystical elements that could tie in to ‘Doctor Strange’. At the very least, we might get the Steel Serpent showing up who is classically one of his villains and was hinted at in ‘Daredevil’ as his symbol was on Madame Gao’s heroin packages. Of course with the latest hints that the various Marvel Studios aren’t playing well together, I suspect we won’t be getting an outright ‘Doctor Strange’ crossover on screen even though it would be something fitting to include.

Are you as happy as I am to hear that ‘Iron Fist’ is still getting a full series? Which villains(s) do you think will appear in the series? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

‘Iron Fist’ will most likely premiere in 2017.
