Li Bingbing (‘Transformers: Age of Extinction‘,’Resident Evil: Retribution’) has just signed up to star as the lead superhero in ‘Realm’. The film is based on a concept by Stan Lee and is being put together by Fundamental Films and Stan Lee Global Entertainment. We don’t know too much about the overall plot of the film but with it being created by one of the most recognizable name in comic books, I have a feeling that this superhero movie will have a hero suffering from loss that will overcome great adversity to save the day.
Honestly I can’t wait to see Bingbing have an opportunity to take on a more commanding role in a film as even though she’s gotten quite a bit of screentime there hasn’t been much with a wide US release that has showcased her talents so far.
Not only is this going to be the first movie from Fundamental Films but it is also a first for Lee as well as:
“What a kick it has been to create our first Chinese female superhero, and an empowering one at that. It has been such a fun experience bringing to life an international woman character, and the ability to do so has been different from anything we’ve ever done! I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.”
While a director hasn’t been attached to the project yet we do know that the screenplay is being tackled by Alex Litvak (‘Predators’, ‘The Three Musketeers’).
Chairman of Fundamental Films, Mark Gao says that:
“Stan Lee’s imagination has brought the world some of its most iconic pop-culture stories and characters. It gives us incredible pleasure and excitement to present his latest creation.”
In all honesty, I’m willing to give anything that the creator of many of Marvel’s most memorable characters brings to live so am looking forward to checking this out.
