Last week, 20th Century Fox shared the final trailers for their upcoming reboot of ‘Fantastic Four’ from up and coming filmmaker Josh Trank. However, just because the last long-form promotional videos have already dropped doesn’t mean that the studio will stop pushing the latest film featuring Marvel’s First Family. The campaign has seemed to switch gears to television because a number of new TV spots have just been released.
For starters, the first four focus on each individual member of the team. In addition to seeing a good bit of new footage, we get a better glimpse at the powers of Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the Thing. You can see all of those together in one video below, followed by the official synopsis of the movie:
‘Fantastic Four,’ a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
Next, the ads take a more straightforward approach with the old-fashioned narrator and all that jazz. The only thing missing is the phrase, “In a world…”:
Then, for some reason, someone thought that it would be a good idea to use ‘Power’ by Kanye West in the commercials. For a short period of time a few years ago, it seemed like every other trailer or TV spot out there used that chorus to promote their movie. Thankfully it went away, but apparently someone at Fox thought that it was a good idea to bring it back. Real talk: It wasn’t a good idea.
Finally, after hearing a few sound bites from his character in previous spots, we get to see a little bit of Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder. If the film follows in the footsteps of the source material, then Elder will become the villainous Mole Man. It’s uncertain whether we’ll see that transformation in this film, but we’ll settle for the alter ego for now:
What do you think about the latest promos for ‘Fantastic Four’? Are you more excited to check out the upcoming reboot now? And does anyone else feel weird about Ben Grimm not wearing pants after he turns into the Thing? Sound off in the comments.
‘Fantastic Four’ starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson hits theaters on August 7, 2015.
