Marvel continues the media blitz leading up the release of ‘Ant-Man,’ this time with their own fake media outlet, ‘WHIH,’ which stars a familiar face from the MCU that we have not seen since 2010’s ‘Iron Man 2.’ The promos stars Leslie Bibb as Christine Everhart, who seems to have moved up in the world into the role of news anchor, whereas the last time we saw her she was a reporter for ‘Vanity Fair’ who had an infatuation with Tony Stark (and was entertaining enough to appear in both the original ‘Iron Man’ and the sequel “Iron Man 2.’) Everhart is reporting on the aftermath of the events of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ wrapping up the story by speaking of the upcoming release of Scott Lang from prison, complete with mug shots of the man first made on his arrest.

It is a clever promo as it manages to tie deep into the roots of the MCU with a relatively obscure character from the ‘Iron Man’ films, while also bringing us up to date on the fallout of Ultron’s attack on Sokovia, as well as mentioning that Scott Lang’s arrest a few years prior was big enough news that Everhart and her colleagues are WHIH had covered the story when he was first sent to prison. Lang is described as a former ‘Vistacorp’ employee, and a cyber-criminal, which could help set the stage for who Lang is, what his motivations are, and why he is a criminal in jail when we first meet him in ‘Ant-Man.’ It also helps to remind audiences that the events of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ are still being discussed by the people in the MCU, and that the Avengers are still suffering from that particular PR nightmare, which of course will also play nicely into the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War.’
