What would you do in order to be able to live forever? That is the intriguing question posed in the new film ‘Self/less.’
The film stars Ben Kingsley (‘Ender’s Game,’ ‘Iron Man 3’) who plays Damien, a wealthy man diagnosed with cancer. His days are numbered as his body will soon succumb to the disease when he is suddenly given an opportunity to live – by having his consciousness transferred to a younger, healthier body (Ryan Reynolds).
In the first clip from the film, we see Matthew Goode (‘Imitation Game,’ ‘The Good Wife’) as he enticingly describes the process to Damien and shows him “vessels” that the company has to allow “humanity’s greatest minds to fulfill their potential.” It is a tantalizing concept and one that Damien soon agrees to.
But, of course, not all goes well in the consciousness transference as soon Damien begins to realize the truth about his new body and the company that supplied it.
Check out the clip below followed by the film’s official synopsis:
In this provocative psychological science fiction thriller, an extremely wealthy man (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley) dying from cancer undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body’s origin and the organization that will kill to protect its cause.
‘Self/less’ is directed by Tarsem Singh (‘Mirror, Mirror’, ‘Immortals’) who is known for his visual style of filmmaking so while the clip is lacking of action, it does provide the set up of the movie which is perfect considering this is the first of what can be assumed to be many more that will be released before the film comes out.
