Now that things are finally quieting down after a pretty rowdy few weeks of Toy Fair news, we’re getting back to a sense of normalcy in the toy world! There are still a few cool new announcements, but things have definitely gone down a few notches as far as the volume of new stuff we’re seeing! Still, there’s plenty to talk about with the Toy News for the week of March 3rd, 2015!
Hot Toys Unleashes The Hulk
With just two months to go before Marvel’s first summer blockbuster of 2015, the long awaited ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ hits theaters! As if the hype train was rolling along hard enough for this movie already, Hot Toys has announced not one, but TWO versions of an all new 1:6th scale figure of The Hulk based on his design from the film!
The first version is the basic Hot Toys The Hulk figure (or at least as ‘basic’ as a Hot Toys figure gets!), which sports a brand new sculpt, a newly designed ‘screaming’ head, alternate sets of hands, and a display stand. The ‘screaming’ head will feature rolling eyeballs so you can adjust where The Hulk is actually looking! Check out the release from Hot Toys below:
He’s always angry! In the upcoming eagerly-awaited Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Earth is in danger again as the evil artificial intelligence Ultron is set on wiping out all life on the planet, and it is up to the Earth’s mightiest heroes to stop the terrible fate from happening.

The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron featuring a newly developed screaming head sculpt with rolling eyeballs, and a specially painted muscular body.
Additionally, there will also be a ‘Deluxe’ version of the new Hot Toys ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ The Hulk figure! This deluxe version includes everything the regular version does, and also includes an alternate ‘Angry’ head to go along with the ‘screaming’ head, as well as a special upper torso and arms pre-posed in a “Hulk Smash” pose! Sideshow Previews The Gotham Knight
While a lot of the companies producing 1:6th scale figures are focusing heavily on the film versions of all of your favorite characters, Sideshow Collectibles is keeping things a little more two dimensional by creating 1:6th figures of your favorite DC heroes in their comic book form! The latest figure in this series is their upcoming Batman figure, which they just announced! This new version of Batman features the iconic Dark Knight in a gray and black costume, and features three different cowl options for him so that you can display your Batman based on the style you prefer! What’s even cooler, is that his expression need not be set based on your choice of cowl, since he also comes with three interchangeable facial expressions that pop in and out of the alternate cowls. Check out the full release from Sideshow below:
Joining Sideshow’s 1:6th scale DC Comics collection comes a new version of Batman: the “Gotham Knight” Sixth Scale Figure.
Crafted on a fully articulated muscular body design, our hero is disguised in a grey and black tailored Batsuit and cape. Inspired by a number of timeless comic book appearances, the Batman “Gotham Knight” Sixth Scale Figure invites collectors to further define their favorite look for the Caped Crusader with three cowl and mask options and three interchangeable facial expressions which are also compatible with Sideshow’s Batman Sixth Scale Figure.
Equipped with hi-tech ‘Bat’-gadgets, utility belt and grapple hook gun, the Dark Knight is always one step ahead of his foes… and for times of true crisis he keeps a powerful gift from his closest friend nearby in the form of a green Kryptonite ring.

NECA’s Groot Has Some Moves
More Groot! You demanded it, and NECA has obliged! While we’re sure some people are getting a little burnt out on the various Groot and Baby Groot products that have finally begun to bombard the market, NECA is giving us two more! These two look like they might be something pretty special though!
First is the new Baby Groot ‘Scaler’ figure. This little guy functions about as well as any other figure in the ‘Scaler’ line, which is a series of 2″ minifigures that are designed to latch onto small cables like your headphone cords and hang there so you can display your fandom with pride in every day situations! Baby Groot joins regular Groot and Rocket Raccoon as part of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series of ‘Scalers’.
Then we’ve got what might be the coolest Dancing baby Groot yet, the baby Groot ‘BodyKnocker’! This guy stands around 6″ tall and is solar powered! So yes, he actually dances! But only when exposed to sunlight. Which just means he’s pretty much like any normal plant that you can imagine dancing right? This guy is going to take over car dashboards galaxy-wide this year, we’re calling it right now! Both of these items are due out in May.

These are due to release in June, but they are currently set to be exclusive to Forbidden Planet International! Well, at least they’re set to be exclusive to that site in Europe. As far as for their stateside releases, there are no release dates currently set, although they are expected to hit before years end. PopVinyls speculates that the Red version I likely to be exclusive to Hot Topic stores, while the Yellow version is likely to be exclusive to Target.
Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Glow Back In The Lagoon…

So both this figure and it’s box are set to glow once you turn the lights off, making it a really nice collectors piece, and the first of it’s kind! It just went up for pre-order now, and it’s set to release late this month!
