For everyone as excited about Neill Blomkamp‘s ‘Alien‘ concept art as I am, you can stay excited as he will be making the film for Fox! That’s right ladies and gentlemen, just as ‘Deadpool‘ had shown off test footage that got the film greenlit that same magic has worked again. It seems that Blomkamp’s dream project art had garnered enough attention for the studio to give the okay on his movie!

The director announced it by sharing a new piece of concept art on Instagram. The photos that he shared caught the attention of fans of the series who still see it as one that is worth watching. I know I’m in that camp.

You can check it out below!

Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien

Blomkamp will be tackling the script after ‘Prometheus 2‘ though I’m sure that the ideas are already being jotted down. At this time, it seems that Ridley Scott‘s Scott Free Productions will produce the film.

When Blomkamp initially posted the artwork, he stated it was “a mental stroll into the world Ridley Scott created.” He also said that he “was working on this. Don’t think I am anymore. Love it though.”

Looks like the pitch he had never been able to make got through on pure fandom. After how excited I was when the initial photos dropped, I’m pretty sure that Fox made the right decision. No pressure on Blomkamp, but he has a beloved franchise to save so it would be great if he could take it back into space and give us some Space Marines! If his first concept art is to be believed, we’ll not only see a return of Ripley but at least one other Space Marine as well.

I. Can’t. Wait!

Are you excited to see what Blomkamp is able to do with the ‘Alien’ franchise? Do you think that he is the man for the job or should these Xenomorphs be left in space where no one can hear them scream?
