“Be ready for what’s coming”

It took a while but the trailer for Josh Trank’s ‘Fantastic Four’ film has finally hit online.

Almost immediately you can see that the film will have a new origin story, which has been teased since the movie has been announced. While we don’t get to see the team in their superhero garb (beyond what they look like from the back), we do see glimpses of Johnny Storm’s (Michael B. Jordan) “flame on” powers and Ben Grimm (Jaime Bell) in what looks to be him turning into the Thing. While there is no footage of Reed Richards’ (Miles Teller) elasticity abilities, for all we know Sue Storm was invisible in some of the scenes in the trailer.

The trailer does coincide with what producer and screenwriter of the film Simon Kinberg described as a “more realistic, a more gritty, grounded telling of the ‘Fantastic Four’,” but is it fantastic enough for the first family of Marvel? We’ll have to wait until August to see.

In the meantime, let us know what you think of the trailer!

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Fantastic Four stars Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell star and opens in theaters on August 7.
