Considering that it was created to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ was bound to cross paths with the existing mythology eventually. During the first season, we saw this happen when Agent Coulson and his team were called in to clean up after the events of ‘Thor: The Dark World’. We even got a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ semi-crossover when the Kree were revealed to be involved in keeping the current S.H.I.E.L.D. director alive. However, no crossover had a HUGE lasting effect larger than ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ since it saw the whole show dynamic change. Now during season two, we’ll see what happens to Skye, May, Fitz, Simmons, and the rest of the crew when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes assemble once again.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the ABC superhero drama will cross over with ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. While no date has been confirmed at this time, one can assume that the tie-in will come in May after the film is released, similar to what happened with last season’s crossovers. As for what we can expect from the episode, executive producer Jed Whedon kept things pretty vague with his comments:

“You should expect something. ‘The Avengers’ is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we’re included in that.”

Executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen was just as vague, but she did hint that the aftermath of ‘Age of Ultron’ might not be as massive as the impact left over from Steve Rogers’ last mission:

“I don’t think any movie has the potential to impact us in the way that ‘Captain America 2’ did, but there will be connections.”

But while we enjoy and look forward to what’s coming immediately next from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, how do you think Director Coulson and company’s world will connect with the Avengers’ next great adventure? Despite Tancharoen’s comment that it won’t be as big as ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ what do you think the chances are of seeing one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes appearing on the show?
