DC Entertainment will be adding another series in its ever growing television endeavors by bringing ‘Titans’ on TNT. That’s right, on top of ‘Arrow‘, ‘The Flash’ as well as the upcoming ‘Gotham‘, ‘Constantine‘, and ‘Supergirl‘ we are also now getting Batman’s most famous sidekick running his own group of superheroes!
While a pilot order hasn’t been officially announced as of yet, with the popularity of DC superheros on television and who they have involved in the project so far, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it happening any day now.
The script was put together by Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman (‘I Am Legend’, ‘Fringe’) as well as Marc Haimes (‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’, ‘Evolution’). The pair are also set to co-executive produce the series.
WBTV would be putting this together and has a long history with the younger take on these characters withthe animated versions ‘Teen Titans’ and ‘Teen Titans Go!’ on the Cartoon Network, so it should be no surprise that they want to put together a live action take on these heroes.
The series will center around Dick Grayson, Batman’s first Robin, as he goes out on his own and takes on the guise of Nightwing. His adventures of being solo though don’t last as he puts together a team to help him fight crime.
Here’s an official synopsis of the project:
Based on characters from DC Comics, ‘Titans’ revolves around a group of young superheroes-to-be who are recruited from every corner of the DC universe. The action-themed drama centers on Dick Grayson, who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new superheroes including Starfire, Raven and more. The show is described as a dramatic adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book titles ever.
As with every other DC TV show, it is highly unlikely that ‘Titans’ will have a connection to the DC films and being on TNT, it will have to be out of continuity with the other television shows that already exist. I doubt we’ll be seeing Flash among this lineup for the obvious reason that he has his own show on another network.
Would you be interested in checking out ‘Titans’ when it premieres? Do you think that this is a group of super heroes that you’d want to see grown up and taking on crime?
