The other day we saw a set photo with Scoot McNairy on the set of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘, and a recent interview may have shined a light on his role being that of a continuing character in the DC Cinematic Universe. In the photo that you can see here, he had been shown on set wearing long, green socks for some clear CGI happening and as they are on his lags that could quite easily indicate The Flash as his legs are often going at full speed.
Considering last year it was reported that The Flash would have a “significant role or a cameo” in the film and he has what looks to mostly be as suit on here I am thinking we’ll be getting a cameo that is mainly of his civilian identity here. It would make sense not to feature him as a main character with so many superheroes and villains already attached to the project.
While McNairy doesn’t confirm or deny the role he does say that “I can’t even elaborate on nothing… but you know all those theories all of them are great. I hope to be a part of the DC Universe for a while.”
While we don’t know if that is wishful thinking or not, it does sound as if he is in a role that could merit bringing him back to the big screen again down the line. I would imagine that this is a hero or villain hint and honestly, The Flash makes the most sense as he does have a suit on otherwise. It would be hard to say why they would need to green screen just the legs for someone that makes sense with the rest of his outfit.
For getting the gig, while McNairy did work with Ben Affleck on ‘Argo’ that didn’t help him get the job at all. According to McNairy, “I auditioned for it, you know, and met with Zack Snyder and after some time went by, I get a phone call and am asked to do this part, you know? I was browsing through Home Depot, and I’m getting some lumber, you know, and I get a phone call and he says, ‘Hi this is Zack Snyder,’ and I’m just like, “No way! Absolutely If you’d have me, I’d love to be there.”
Do you think that Scoot is lined up to play The Flash? If not, who do you suspect that he’ll be playing and why?
‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is scheduled for May 6th, 2016.
