The trailers for Fox’s upcoming ‘Gotham‘ have shown us an interesting mixture of a cop procedural show as well as the origins of the villains in the Batman mythos. Oh, and of course the young Bruce Wayne as well. The series sounds like it could be fun and the latest UK trailer is narrated by Ben McKenzie, who is in the central role of Detective James Gordon for the series. This trailer does one of the better jobs of featuring all of the leads for the series that we know of to date than most of the previous ones.

The pilot episode, which was aired at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, has received mixed reviews so far. While there is a lot of good that has come from it, there also seemed to be quite a bit revealed right off the bat. While a series can change quite a bit from the pacing of a pilot, this could end up having the writers reveal far too much too soon if the trend continues. Of course, you can never really fully judge a series off its pilot. Take a look at what the latest trailer teases us!

I fully plan on giving the show a shot. I’m just not fully convinced that this is the TV show for the Batman universe that we need or deserve.

What are your thoughts after the latest trailer for ‘Gotham’? Does Fox have a clear hit on their hands or are we going to be struggling with origin stories that don’t need to be retold for a Batman that we’ll never quite see fully geared up and becoming the Dark Knight? Share your thoughts below!

Synopsis:

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker. GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

‘Gotham’ will air Monday nights at 8 p.m. on the FOX network and premieres on September 22nd.
