Crystal Dynamics and Microsoft dropped a lofty bomb on Gamescom goers with the breaking news that the newest of the ‘Tomb Raider’ franchise, ‘Rise Of The Tomb Raider,’ will be exclusive to Xbox One! But fear not as Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition will be coming to PC and PS4 gamers respectively!
As quoted by the fine folks at Microsoft during E3:
“In her first adventure, Lara Croft was forged into a true survivor, but she glimpsed a deeper, secret world. In the next chapter of her journey, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider.”
The ‘Tomb Raider’ franchise has come a long way and has evolved as the technical abilities of gaming has increased exponentially. The graphics in this latest release are as incredible as you may imagine. The terrain details and the color gamut are true enhancements to the look and feel of this new addition. The character or NPC mapping is quite extraordinary and top notch. The CG rendering is really impressive as seen in the gameplay trailer. The movement of the characters is far more fluid than I’ve seen thus far, which proves just much closer we are to that ultra-realism in CGI and the possibilities of future breakthroughs.
‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ takes the gamer to several exotic and treacherous locations throughout the world, where all her skills and experience so far in her life will be tested in spades. It has been said that this venture will take Lara back to the tombs of the game’s namesake, which for me personally is one of the franchises most redeeming qualities.
