Gratuitous?  Yup!

Following ‘The Lego Movie’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, sitcom star Chris Pratt seems to be settling quite nicely into the role of leading action hero, confirming that he was set to star as the lead in ‘Jurassic World’.  Bryce Dallas Howard has already been confirmed for the big franchise reboot and her father, Ron Howard tweeted a picture of her with Pratt with a caption indicating that the pair were going to appear together in ‘Jurassic World’.  Also confirmed is Ty Simpkins, the child star from ‘Iron Man 3’ and both ‘Insidious‘ movies.

Now the star of NBC’s ‘Parks & Recreation’ has opened up about his role in ‘Jurassic World”, stating “For me, ‘Jurassic Park’ was really kind of my ‘Star Wars’. I lined up at the theatre to see it, I saw it opening night, I saw every sequel, I’ve seen it a whole bunch of times… for me that was my big movie, I think I was 13 or 14 when it came out. And so it’s a big deal for me to be any part of that, let alone this part I’m going to be playing. I’m thrilled about it.”

Pratt’s character is named Owen, a “rugged ex-military dude who butts heads with a corporate scientist (Howard) over, presumably, how to best to handle genetically-manufactured dinosaurs.”

Though not much is known about the film’s plot, it is known that the movie isn’t a hard reboot and will instead pick up in “real time” 22 years after the first movie and will be set on Isla Nublar, the island from the first ‘Jurassic Park‘.  (The second and third movies were set on Isla Sorna.)

Director Colin Trevorrow and screenwriter Derek Connolly are reworking a script originally penned by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

Looks like things are starting to fall into place with the relaunch of this groundbreaking franchise.  Are you ready to revisit ‘Jurassic World’?
