Just when you thought it was safe to go into a dark basement we have some casting news for ‘Insidious Chapter 3‘ to share with you! Recently Stefanie Scott (‘Wreck-It Ralph’, ‘A.N.T. Farm’) joined the casting and now it would appear that the talented Dermot Mulroney (‘The Grey’, ‘Stoker’) has signed on to star in the male lead role!
This is a great casting announcement as Mulroney is a great actor. The downside, though, is that we have no idea as to who he is cast as since we’ve been given few details of the upcoming film so far. Aside from a release date and the return of the paranormal investigators, the only thing we do know is that they will be investigating an entirely new case. I’m assuming if we follow another family haunting that Mulroney will be the father of the household. Of course a lead could mean any number of roles.

This film is Whannell’s directorial debut on the series as James Wan (‘The Conjuring‘, ’Saw’) is stepping out of the director’s chair as it conflicts with his filming schedule for ‘Fast & The Furious 7′, as well as the fact that he doesn’t want to do more horror.
Mulroney will be joining Anne Bergstedt Jordanova as the neighbor as well as returning castmembers Angus Sampson as Tucker, Lin Shaye as Elise Rainier and Whannell as Specs.
