Obviously if I’m going to be bringing up what you’ll be seeing after the credits for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ there will be some spoilers here. So my brave mutant lovers, if you don’t mind the spoiler of what you’ll see (or need what you saw explained), this is the place for you to be! If you are looking to be surprised? Turn back now before it is too late!

Here’s a quick picture of Mystique who has nothing to do with this post credit spoiler (that is kind of a spoiler in itself isn’t it, argh!) However it’ll give you time to close out before reading more!

Still here? Good, because we’re going to take some time to talk about a man.

Perhaps not a man but a mutant. A mutant who was so powerful in a time of wonder that he may very well have been worshiped as a God. Who is this man? Well, Apocalypse of course, and quite unsurprisingly he is at the center of the next installment as the movie is even titled after him: ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘.

Screenwriter Simon Kinberg chimes in to explain not only what we see Apocalypse doing  at the end of  ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ but the significance of it as well:

“What you see is Apocalypse sort of using his powers to manipulate the Pyramids. And in the shot, you can see The Four Horseman sort of in shadow, or silhouette. Now, when we make the movie, it will not take place in ancient times. We went back and forth a lot on… what that scene should be. Bryan and I just locked into this idea of seeing Apocalypse at the height of his power and glory, which is what we imagined would have been in Egyptian times. It was just to give a tease of, ‘This guy is super-powerful, and there was a moment in time when he was essentially treated as a god, and he’s going to rise again in X-Men: Apocalypse.””

Note that while we see Apocalypse here to not get your hopes up that it is the final iteration. They aren’t using the actual actor for the next film and this scene is just showing him as a young man at the height of his power. What we’ll be seeing in 2016 is a mutant returning to his power but an older one. A little time has passed between ancient Egyptian times and the 80s, when ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’  takes place.

Are you looking forward to seeing Apocalypse on the big screen? If you’ve seen the clip, do you think it is a good sign of things to come? Share your thoughts below!
