The ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ viral website, TransformersAreDangerous.com, launched in March, but hasn’t been very active.  But now as the movie is growing closer and closer to its June 27th release date, the publicity machine is cranking up.  The site has been redesigned and three new “in world” features have been added.

The first is a propaganda video detailing the devastation of Chicago in the last movie ‘Dark of the Moon’ featuring chopped up news narration.  The video clip, and the rest of the features on the site all urge humanity to “Keep Earth Human” and to call for the banishment of the Transformers, even the heroic Autobots.  Check it out below:

From what we already know about ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction‘, anti-Tranformers sentiment has grown so rampant that the Autobots have taken cover.  (They haven’t left, however.)

The second section of the site features newspaper clippings also dealing with the aftermath of Chicago’s destruction.  Fittingly, the first clipping comes from Chicago:

There are additional clippings from Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC, Barcelona, Brasilia, Sydney and Tokyo.  And let’s just say none of them are in favor of the shapeshifting robots.  (As a note, however Barcelona’s clipping is in Spanish, Brasilia’s is in Portuguese and Tokyo’s is in Japanese.)

The third section features five downloadable propaganda posters.  Here is one example:

The posters can be downloaded in three different sizes.  The phone number actually works, by the way.  The only real feature is that you can report a Transformers sighting, which I didn’t do.  If anyone does, let me know if it does anything.

It’s pretty entertaining… although the ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ viral site had similar anti-mutant propaganda features.

What do you think?  Does this viral campaign make you more interested in the new Transformers movie?
