Well, if ‘Maleficent’ underperforms or heavens forbid fails at the box office, it certainly won’t be because of lack of promotion. Coming on the heels of ‘Godzilla’ and ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, ‘Maleficent’ takes the summer in a more whimsical, fantasy direction with a female lead. Are movie-goers ready for a break from the destruction and explosions? We’ll see next weekend.
The first clip is entitled “Fairy Godmother” which makes sense once you get to the end. A lot of this clip has already been utilized in the previously released trailers. But even so, in a continuous sequence, there is a nice moodiness to it.
The next clip is called “In The Clouds.” Once more, some of this clip has already been glimpsed, but it’s pretty nifty to see the amazing CGI employed in this movie.
Finally, we get a behind-the-scenes featurette displaying the epic battle between Maleficent and King Henry’s army. It looks like a lot of this sequence will be rendered in CGI, but a lot of the stunts are clearly 100% real. Check out the amazing wire work!
Maleficent appears in theaters on May 30th, the week following ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ and going up against what could be a dark horse hit, ‘A Million Ways To Die In The West’. Which blockbuster do you plan on checking out?
