At the end of the summer, we learned that the God of Thunder would be paying a visit to the Happiest Place on Earth in order to promote the upcoming Marvel film, ‘Thor: The Dark World’. Starting on November 1, 2013, a new exhibit in Disneyland’s Innoventions made possible by Jane Foster will be opening called ‘Thor: Treasures of Asgard’ that will feature “the sacred treasures of an ancient realm” and transportation to Asgard for an audience with Thor himself. While the new attraction doesn’t open until Friday, we have the first look at the brand new experience that brings the first meetable Marvel character in a Disney theme park.
Unfortunately, I’m stuck on the east coast while this is going on, but lucky for me (and everyone else who can’t make it to Disneyland between now and January 6, 2014), Collider has a whole collection of photos from their advanced visit to the exhibit. In the gallery below, you can see a number of weapons and armor belonging to the likes of Heimdall, Loki, and Fandral the Dashing, as well as items used by Malekith’s Dark Elves like the Book of Yggdrasil. You can even catch a glimpse at the Asgardian Avenger at the end of the exhibit:
I don’t know about all of you, but I love Disneyland and Marvel, so to see the two come together in such a way is so amazing. Even though I don’t have a chance to make it out there to check out this exhibit (or the Iron Man tech exhibit, which is still currently on display despite being scheduled to be taken down at the end of summer) I look forward to seeing how else these two companies collaborate in the future to create more immersive theme park attractions.
What do you think of ‘Thor: Treasures of Asgard’ at Disneyland? Will you be making the pilgrimage out to Anaheim to see the attraction for yourself? Let us know in the comment section.
‘Thor: The Dark World’ starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, and Anthony Hopkins hits theaters on November 8, 2013.
