With a ton of new preview photos of ‘Helix‘ you would think production was well underway. However, it looks like casting is still being done as the infamous Seven of Nine, aka Jeri Ryan (‘Star Trek: Voyager’) has officially joined the cast of ‘Helix’.

Jeri has been cast to play the role of Constance Sutton, the chief operating officer of Ilaria Corporation, owner of Arctic Biosystems which is where the research on the show is taking place. She’ll be playing a role that has her character be both charming and savvy in order to get her way at any cost.

Ryan will be joining the two leads portrayed by Billy Campbell (‘The Killing’) who will play the leader of the CDC outbreak field team and Hiroyuki Sanada (‘The Wolverine‘) who is the director of Arctic Biosystems whose viral research program is shrouded in mystery. The show also stars Kyra Zagorsky (‘Supernatural‘) as Dr. Julia Walker, Mark Ghanimé (‘Emily Owens, M.D.’) as Major Sergio Balleseros, Jordan Hayes (‘House at the End of the Street’) as Dr. Sarah Jordan, Meegwun Fairbrother as Daniel Aerov, Catherine Lemieux (‘White House Down’) as Dr. Doreen Boyle and Neil Napier (‘Riddick‘) as Dr. Peter Farragut.

If you’re not familiar with the ‘Helix,’ here’s the show’s synopsis:

Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation.

While working with a new cast is one thing, Ryan isn’t a complete stranger to showrunner Ronald D. Moore (‘Battlestar Galactica‘). He was the executive producer on 2 of the ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ episodes that she starred in. It’ll be interesting to see how they work together on ‘Helix’.

I know I personally am enjoying seeing Ryan returning to science fiction. Are you happy about this casting as much as I am?
