Since Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman in Zack Snyder’s follow up to ‘Man of Steel’, jokes have been flying about the actor’s good friend Matt Damon playing Robin. While that would certainly be a sight to see, the closest that the ‘Elysium’ star appears to be getting to the Dark Knight is that he’s lined up to appear in a film directed by the man who revitalized the Caped Crusader on the silver screen.
Damon has joined the cast of Nolan’s upcoming film ‘Interstellar’. With an impressive cast already featuring the likes of John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Matthew McConaughey, this recent addition further proves that the director is going for the biggest, most talented names in the business today.
Continuing the trend of extreme secrecy surrounding this movie, Damon’s role is being kept heavily under wraps, but he is said to be filling a “small, undisclosed role”. How small is small? Well, he’s supposedly lined up to be on set for only two weeks out of the scheduled four-month shoot in Iceland.
While not much is known about what’s to come in the upcoming film directed and co-written by Nolan, we do know that the story “chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.”
Could Damon be playing one of the explorers? Maybe he’ll take on the persona of someone or something that the explorers find on their journey. Guess we’ll have to just wait and see.
‘Interstellar’ starring Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Bill Irwin, Casey Affleck, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, David Oyelowo, David Gyasi, Topher Grace, and Michael Caine will be released on November 7, 2014.
