Telltale Games, the studio behind the critically-acclaimed ‘The Walking Dead’ adventure series, has released the first trailer for their upcoming series ‘Fables: The Wolf Among Us’.

Based on the popular DC comic ‘Fables‘ from writer Bill Willingham, ‘The Wolf Among Us’ has players taking on the role of Bigby Wolf, who is acting as sheriff of Fablestown, and is tasked with keeping the secret community safe from the outside world of New York City. Of course, this is easier said than done, as many of the residents have a knack for attracting attention. Gamers who are already familiar with Telltale Games will find that the game mechanics are very similar to that of ‘The Walking Dead’, complete with permanent choices that will impact how the game plays out.

‘Fables’ debuted back in 2002 to much love from critics and readers alike, and has since developed a huge fanbase throughout the series’ 11-year run. The comic is still ongoing, and there have long been rumors of the series being adapted into other mediums, the most recent of which comes from Nikolaj Arcel helming a ‘Fables’ feature film.

Telltale Games had originally announced their Fables video game series back in 2011, and had initially set the release date for 2012. However, after several delays, the final release was pushed back to “sometime in 2013.”

Now that we have an impressive teaser trailer, the wait for ‘The Wolf Among Us’ will seem much longer, even though the game will be released during the fall of this year. The game will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
