What is it with British actors and their ability to send chills of excitement when delivering a monologue? Ever since the trailer featuring Benedict Cumberbatch’s menacing voice over hit the web, the buzz for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ has been increasingly rising and the film has already become a blockbuster success even before the film has hit theaters.  Paramount must have sensed Cumberbatch’s affect as they have released this new viral video of his character John Harrison mocking the fame that is Captain Kirk.

The video is of the same vein as the one from General Zod’s  (Michael Shannon) which was recently released for ‘Man of Steel.’ With static and images from the film flashing across the screen, Cumberbatch speaks of Captain Kirk’s glorious reputation and how he is bent on destroying it.

The quiet menace in Cumberbatch’s voice and intent is enough to not only be very envious of the fans across the pond (as the UK will be seeing ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ a week earlier than the US), but also not care who exactly John Harrison is (Khan who?). Whoever he is, Cumberbatch has already put his own stamp into this villain.

In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ opens in theaters in the US on May 17, 2013.
