Patton Oswalt is one funny comic genius!  Recently, he did a guest stint on NBC’s ‘Parks and Recreation’ and played a citizen who was trying to prevent a bill from being voted on at the Pawnee Town Hall meeting by participating in a filibuster.  He was told by the producers that he could go ahead and rant about whatever came to his mind and they would film him doing just that. Well, what came out of that one take session was Oswalt improvising a pitch for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ which can only be described as pure geek nirvana inspiration.

Oswalt’s filibuster went on for a little over eight minutes and manages to include not only a Lando Calrissian, Princess Leia, Han Solo love triangle, the return of Boba Fett, but also a crossover with the X-men, Greek Gods from ‘Clash of the Titans’, and ‘The Avengers’ with Tony Stark heading out to find the cream of the Marvel universe like Spiderman and Daredevil (because, as he states, Hawkeye and Black Widow are second tier superheroes).

There’s more hilarity and genius as the clip unfolds! Too bad this is a deleted scene and won’t be shown in the next on air episode of ‘Parks and Recreation,’  but at least NBC realized the genius behind the take and released it for fans to watch.

Too bad filibusters are not like this in real life. If it were the case, more people would be tuning in to CSPN.

Hit the jump to watch this comic genius in action!

UPDATE: The pitch seemed to have inspired EW’s Jeff Castro who designed this movie poster based on Oswalt’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ pitch:
