Andrea Roth and JD Pardo

In the past several years, the apocalypse has come in vogue. We’ve survived a few and the next, at least believed by some, is December 21, 2012. As is often the case, art is a reflection of life and end-of-times dramas have become popular. Well… more popular than usual. In recent years, we’ve seen ‘I am Legend’ and ‘2012’ in theaters. On TV, one of the most popular shows is the zombie apocalypse thriller ‘The Walking Dead’. Now the hitmaker J.J. Abrams is tossing his creative hat into the ring with NBC’s upcoming drama ‘Revolution’.

‘Revolution’ is described by Deadline as a “high-octane action drama” that “follows a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.”

‘Revolution’ is currently in the casting stages. A couple of weeks ago, Giancarlo Esposito (‘Once Upon a Time’) was cast to play Captain Neville, a hard-nosed military type. Today, Deadline reports that Andrea Roth (‘Rescue Me’) and JD Pardo (‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn pt. 2’) have joined the cast as well. Roth will be playing Rachael, mother to two of the younger leads while Pardo will be playing a character that is listed as an “expert archer”.

‘Revolution’ is created by J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke (‘Supernatural’) with Jon Favreau (‘Iron Man’) set to direct the pilot episode.
