For a huge blockbuster as ‘Star Trek into Darkness’ happens to be, it’s very surprising that little details have been released regarding the film. J.J. Abrams has been very obsessively secretive about this film to the point that he even built a storage barricade to keep the paparazzi from taking any unauthorized photos during filming.
But the secret is now out! Not only will audiences get to see the first trailer and the first nine minutes of the film (both to be shown before the screening of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ with the latter only screening in IMAX 3D theaters), the official synopsis has now been released!
Here’s what we can expect from ‘Star Trek into Darkness’ per Paramount Studios:
In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness.
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
The movie sounds like it will be worthy of the ‘Star Trek’ name and while we still don’t know who the villain that is played by Benedict Cumberbatch is yet, we do know that Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) is on a “manhunt” for this “one man weapon of mass destruction.” With the mention that the threat comes within the organization, this may explain the pictures of Cumberbatch fighting Spock (Zachary Quinto) in a Starfleet uniform that was leaked online several months ago.
With the official trailer dropping in theaters in a little over 2 weeks, it won’t be too long after that when one will be released online. After all, anything longer that the 3 frames that Abrams introudced on the Conan show will be immensely worth salivating for! I can hardly wait!
