Marvel and DC aren’t the only comic publishers in the movie game. In fact, there are quite a few of them trying to make names for themselves on the silver screen, but this year, a little company called BOOM! Studios is on a role. Previously, their book ‘2 Guns’ was set up over at Universal with Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, James Marsden, and Edward James Olmos starring. Now, it seems that another book from the company’s roster of titles is getting the big screen treatment at Paramount.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, writer Blake Masters, who is also known for creating Showtime crime drama ‘Brotherhood’ and showrunning ‘Law & Order: LA’, will have his comic book series ‘Insurrection’ adapted into a movie for Paramount Pictures. The story is set in a world where big corporations hold more power than governments and each have their own armies made of sub-class clones. One day, a man leads a revolution that changes everything. ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ producer Michael De Luca and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ producer Matt Tolmach, along with BOOM!’s Ross Richie, will produce this “sci-fi Spartacus” story, with Masters penning the script.
How do you think ‘Insurrection’ will do in your local theaters? Does this sound like something you’d see? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
