One of the best fighting games ever created, ‘Street Fighter’, is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year and it’s parent company Capcom is celebrating in a big way.

At the NYCC panel on Thursday, ‘Street Fighter X Tekken’ producer Tomoaki Ayano and ‘Street Fighter’ series executive producer Yoshinori Ono (who was dressed as Chun Li) went over some of the things going on for the celebration such as the anniversary collector’s set, the tournament series, and the collaborations for merchandise.

The awesome collector’s set includes four different ‘Street Fighter’ games, an 11-disc soundtrack, a hardcover art book, a statue of Ryu, a replica of Ryu’s belt, and a special set exclusive documentary.

The tournament series is looking to crown the best ‘Street Fighter’ player in 8 regions of the world. The qualifying matches have already begun and the finals will be held in San Francisco.

It was also revealed that ‘Street Fighter’ would be teaming with Sanrio, the company who makes all the Hello Kitty merchandise, to produce products such as Hello Kitty Chun Li dolls and sticker books. The game franchise will also team with Parker Bros. to create the first ever ‘Street Fighter’ edition of Monopoly.

Here’s a video recap of the celebration so far:

Finally, the biggest news to come out of the panel was the rebirth of ‘Darkstalkers’ franchise. In what’s being called the first step, Capcom will be releasing ‘Darkstalkers Ressurrection’, which is a re-release of ‘Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge’ and ‘Darkstalkers 3’. Though it is a re-release, there will be many new features added to the game similar to what they did with ‘Street Fighter Origins’. The game is set for release in early 2013.
