Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ hits theaters this weekend, and as usual, Stan “The Man” Lee, the legendary superhero creator, will make his cameo in the film just as he’s done with all the other Marvel movies. However, he’ll also be making an extended stay in a few theaters today courtesy of a few special screenings of the new documentary about him called ‘With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story’.
According to Deadline, a few lucky theaters will have the opportunity to see the new documentary about the man who gave us Captain America, Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, and The Avengers, among many, many other heroes before it hits Video OnDemand and other digital platforms on May 8th. Additionally, Lee will participate in a live-streamed Q&A with the audiences in all these theaters.
Here’s a list of cities in which the documentary will screen: Pasadena, CA, Austin, TX, Scottsdale, AZ, Fairview, TX, Bolingbrook, IL, South Barrington, IL, Redmond, WY, and Glendale, WY.
The doc, which chronicles Lee’s life from growing up in the Great Depression to becoming one of the most iconic comic creators of all time, premiered at this year’s Slamdance Film Festival and was picked up by pay channel EPIX, who showed it over the weekend as part of a Marvel Superheroes Weekend promotion.
It’s a bummer that more cities aren’t getting this special event in theaters near them. If you don’t live in any of these cities, like me, then I guess we all have to wait till the VOD release next week.
